Cultivating Growth and Solidarity zine workshop
A free workshop for Asian community members to cultivate individual and collective healing and growth

Please join Qwisun Yoon-Potkins and Macayla Yan for a workshop based on their collaborative project “Cultivating Growth and Solidarity: An Anti-Racism Zine.” Please note that registration is reserved for Asian youth and adults. Family members are encouraged to register together!

Participants who register before June 30 will receive a hard copy of the zine in the mail. You can also download a PDF of the zine to participate.

The zine is a resource designed to help youth (and adults) explore their experiences as racialized individuals of Asian ancestry in Canada. It includes explorations of ancestry, terms to understand their experiences, and possibilities for anti-racist solidarity. In this workshop, Yoon-Potkins and Yan will lead discussions through prompts in the zine, focusing on self-location and envisioning a new world and different ways of being in relationship and community with one another.

Qwisun Yoon-Potkins (윤귀선) is a mixed-race Korean/English settler living on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Macayla Yan is a Cantonese settler residing on Lək̓ ʷəŋən (“le-kwung-en”) and W̱SÁNEĆ (“wh-say-nech”) Homelands, aka Victoria, BC. Their family comes from the tropical 中山, 台山, 澳門, and 香港. They are a queer, nonbinary and chronically ill textile artist and graduate student studying to become a counsellor.
